ISED Certification Fees and Model Updates

On October 31, 2023, Canada notified that ISED wireless device registration fees would increase. While the cost of a single application has risen, ISED multi-model certification, a typical certification method, saves manufacturers significant costs. During the application process, issues related to multiple model designations often require clarification to ISED. Therefore, ISED presented updated requirements for ISED multi-model certification at the 2023 Fall TCB Workshop to reduce problems and improve efficiency.



How much has the ISED wireless device registration fee increased?


New application registration: Fee increased from USD750 to USD783;


Change of registration application: Fee increased from USD375 to USD391.5.


ISED fees take into account the CPI (Consumer Price Index) and are expected to be adjusted again in April 2024, with an estimated increase of 4.4%. Please refer to subsequent official announcements for details.


Additionally, for ISED device registration applicants who are Canadian companies, additional taxes will be incurred. This tax policy is currently in effect. What should be noted when applying for multiple ISED models?


The ISED application must describe the following requirements in the Declaration of Differences document:


1. Describe the differences in RF circuit PCB layout and circuit principle between different models (if applicable);


2. Describe the differences in non-RF circuit PCB layout and circuit principle between different models (if applicable);


3. Describe the differences in housing and color between different models (if applicable);


4. If multiple models include multiple versions for marketing purposes, please detail the differences in marketing information, such as distribution chain name, packaging information, labeling information, etc.;


5. If there are no differences, please provide the reason for applying for multiple PMN/HVIN/FVINs;


6. If the selected PMN or HVIN is already sold in other countries/regions, but the device is not exactly the same, a reason description must be provided for the content provided in the Canadian application;


7. If multiple models are submitted for future market launch, please provide a future market launch plan and a description of why certification of the product version not yet on the market is not delayed;


8. Provide instruction manuals and product labels for each product model;


9. Provide internal and external photographs for each product model.

EN IEC 62680-1-3/62680-1-2 EU Electronics Standards

To reduce e-waste, the EU is committed to promoting a unified charging technology and interface that supports a variety of electronic products. On November 23, 2022, the EU issued Directive EN IEC 62680-1-3/62680-1-2, requiring electronic product manufacturers to use USB-C charging interface technology in their products.
