Japan PSE Certification Certification Introduction PSE certification (Product Safety of Electrical Appliance & Materials) is a market access system implemented by the Japanese government for electronic and electrical products. It is an important part of Japan's Electrical Product Safety Law (DENAN). On April 1, 2001, Japan revised the DENAN law, placing it under the management of METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). METI does not directly issue certificates but authorizes third-party certification bodies to conduct conformity assessment tests and issue certificates. METI authorizes the Japan Electrical Safety and Environmental Technology Research Laboratory (JET) and the Japan Quality Assessment Agency (JQA) as Qualified Certification Bodies (CABs) to conduct testing and certification of electronic and electrical products and to supervise the market, in accordance with regulations.
