A phenomenon that persists to this day is that, in order to market their electrical products throughout Europe, manufacturers spare no expense in applying for certifications from multiple European countries for the same product, such as VDE, KEMA-KEUR, NF, IMQ, and DEMKO. This is both time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, ENEC certification, similar to CE, was created. ENEC is an abbreviation for European Norms Electrical Certification, meaning European Standard Electrical Certification.


The ENEC mark indicates compliance with relevant European standards. ENEC certificates are issued by official testing bodies in member countries of the CCA (CENELEC) Certification Agreement. ENEC certification is recognized by signatory bodies in CCA member countries and may replace national safety certifications in Europe in the future.


The ENEC mark signifies safety because it is based not only on type testing conducted by qualified certification bodies but also on continuous control over the manufacturer's production processes. Furthermore, the use of the ENEC mark is monitored by European manufacturers, consumer organizations, and official testing bodies.


Compared to previous certification methods, the advantages of ENEC certification are obvious:


1. Completing a single testing and certification process grants access to the entire European market (ENEC), saving significant time and costs.


2. The ENEC mark's applicability has expanded from EU (European Community) and EFTA (European Free Trade Association) countries to Eastern European countries.


3. Choosing a single certification body provides the necessary (complete) ENEC certification, simplifying the certification process.


4. Freedom of choice among numerous certification bodies is available.


5. A single certification contract can replace multiple previous certification contracts.


This mark is non-mandatory and customer-oriented.


The ENEC mark (European Norms Electrical Certification) is a certification program of CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization), applicable to products such as lighting equipment and related parts, electrical and electronic equipment for office and IT, safety insulation and discrete transformers, power supplies, and switches for household appliances.


The ENEC mark is a voluntary mark that can be used in place of individual European country marks to demonstrate that a product has passed third-party testing and conforms to European standards (ENs). The ENEC mark signifies safety because it is based not only on type testing conducted by qualified certification bodies but also on continuous control over the manufacturer's production processes. Furthermore, the use of the ENEC mark is monitored by European manufacturers' and consumer organizations and official testing bodies.


The European standards listed in Annex B of the ENEC Agreement are constantly being expanded. And the "ENEC" mark, originally only permitted for European manufacturers, is now open to all manufacturers worldwide.


ENEC Mark Explanation – The number appearing to the right of the ENEC mark identifies different CCA member countries (Note: different numbers represent different member countries/certification bodies, e.g., 10 represents VDE). There are currently 21 member countries and 23 certification bodies. The certification body's mark can also be added if the manufacturer wishes.

EN IEC 62680-1-3/62680-1-2 EU Electronics Standards

To reduce e-waste, the EU is committed to promoting a unified charging technology and interface that supports a variety of electronic products.
