Saudi Arabia IECEE Certification Scope


IECEE certification, also known as SIRC, is a new certification implemented by SASO in early 2018 to ensure that Saudi Arabia's standards system, quality criteria, and conformity assessments comply with international standards and WTO requirements.


The 15 categories of goods covered by this certification require a mandatory IECEE certificate for customs clearance in Saudi Arabia. The certification is implemented in phases.


Clearly, Saudi Arabia's IECEE is not the same as the International Electrotechnical Commission's IECEE system!


Saudi Arabia IECEE Certification Scope:


Lighting:


In the second half of 2018, the Saudi Standards Agency (SASO) released two new energy efficiency standards for lighting products: SASO 2902: 2018 and SASO 2870: 2018.


Standard SASO 2902:2018, with customs enforcement effective April 1, 2019, controls the following products:


1. Incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, energy-saving lamps, and LED lamps with a capacity of 12,000 lumens or higher.


2. LED tubes, single-ended fluorescent tubes, double-ended fluorescent tubes, and high-pressure discharge lamps.


3. Controllers and integrated luminaires.


*In 2020, Saudi Arabia announced the implementation of SASO 2927:2019, applicable to: streetlights and tunnel lights.

 Power Bank Safety Upgrade: First Mandatory National Standard Issued my country's first mandatory national standard, the "Technical Specification for Safety of Power Banks," was published on March 31, 2026, and will officially take effect on April 1, 2027. EN IEC 62680-1-3/62680-1-2 EU Electronics Standards

To reduce e-waste, the EU is committed to promoting a unified charging technology and interface that supports a variety of electronic products. On November 23, 2022, the EU issued Directive EN IEC 62680-1-3/62680-1-2, requiring electronic product manufacturers to use USB-C charging interface technology in their products. It also requires small and medium-sized portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and cameras, as well as laptops, to comply with the USB-C charging interface requirement by 2024 and 2026, respectively.
