 What is R&TTE Certification?



R&TTE (Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive) covers products such as short-range wireless remote control products, professional wireless remote control products, and Bluetooth products.


R&TTE Basic Requirements:

For radio equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment: Includes the safety requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (although no voltage limit is specified);

For electromagnetic compatibility protection under Directive 89/336/EEC.

For radio equipment only: – Radio equipment should be manufactured to effectively utilize the allocated ground/space wireless communication spectrum and orbital resources to avoid harmful interference.


CE Marking: Yes.


Assessment Criteria: As the basis for CE marking, conformity assessment should involve a notified body.


R&TTE Scope:

Products covered by the R&TTE Directive include:


1. Short-range wireless remote control products (SRD), such as: remote control toy cars, remote control alarm systems, remote control doorbells, remote control toy car switches, remote control mice, keyboards, etc.


2. Professional Remote Control (PMR) Products: Examples include professional walkie-talkies, wireless microphones, corded phones, fax machines, modems, answering machines, PABX systems, cordless phones (CTO, CT1, CT1+, etc.), ISDN (digital telephone products), DECT (enhanced digital cordless phones), GSM, CDMA, etc.


3. Bluetooth Products: Examples include Bluetooth headsets.
