 EN62109-1:2010 test EN62109-2:2011 test

I. Standard Overview

EN62109-1:2010 specifies the "General Safety Requirements" for power conversion equipment used in photovoltaic power generation systems, which applies to the safety design and evaluation of all power conversion equipment, covering core indicators such as basic electrical safety, mechanical protection, and environmental adaptability. EN62109-2:2011, based on the first part, refines the special requirements for "photovoltaic inverters", including specific test contents such as electrical characteristics, protection functions, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). It is the core basis for market access in the EU. II. Core Test Items

(1) EN62109-1:2010

Environmental adaptability: Test the operational stability of equipment under extreme temperature, humidity, and altitude conditions. Electrical shock protection: Evaluate insulation strength, grounding continuity, and enclosure protection level (such as IP rating). Mechanical safety: Verify the structural strength and vibration resistance of equipment to prevent potential safety hazards caused by mechanical failure. (II) EN62109-2:2011

Electrical performance: including measurement and verification of parameters such as output voltage/current accuracy, power factor, and efficiency. Protection functions: overvoltage/undervoltage protection; overcurrent/short circuit protection; overheat protection; islanding protection. EMC testing: based on the EN 61000 series of standards, evaluates the equipment's immunity to interference and emission levels in an electromagnetic environment. Fire safety: material flame retardancy testing and verification of thermal runaway protection under abnormal operating conditions. III. Certification process

Document preparation: Provide product technical specifications, circuit diagrams, lists of key components (including CE certified components), and user manuals. Sample testing: The laboratory completes tests on electrical safety, EMC, environmental adaptability, etc. according to standard requirements, records the test data, and generates a detailed report. Report review: The certification body verifies the test results and issues a CE certification certificate after confirming compliance with the standards. Continuous compliance: Manufacturers need to track standard updates to ensure that products continue to comply with EU regulatory requirements. IV. Linkage with other standards

Compared with the IEC 61851 series: EN62109 focuses on the safety of the power conversion equipment itself, while the IEC 61851 series (such as IEC 61851-21-1) emphasizes the interactive compatibility between charging stations and vehicles, as well as EMC requirements. Compared with UL 2594: UL 2594 focuses on the safety certification of charging stations in the North American market, while EN62109 places more emphasis on the comprehensive safety assessment of inverters and energy storage systems in the EU market. V. Notes

Scope of application: Applicable only to off-vehicle photovoltaic inverters and energy storage systems, excluding wireless charging equipment. Regulatory updates: Regular verification of standard versions is required to avoid certification invalidation due to standard revisions
